Back in May, we watched and supported 23 brave cyclists and non-cyclists in our community come together and overcome a challenge for charity. Whatever the British weather would throw at them, they were not going to back down.

The fundraiser put together was for One In A Million, a Bradford based charity that engages with children and young people, through Sports, the Arts and Enterprise.

In Bradford, the latest child poverty figures show over 42,000 children are living below the poverty line. One In A Million transforms the lives of children & young people, many of whom are from some of the most deprived areas in the UK.

Our very own Wayne Cowley  organised the fundraiser and took part in the challenge. Wayne is not a cyclist but was dedicated and to riding 70 to 100 miles two days in a row. So far, the total raised in the 2024 sponsorship is £17,551 with a 7 year total of over £100,000!

The challenge consisted of two days cycling, side by side on the 11th and 12th of May. Starting at Saltaire, a Victorian model village near Shipley in West Yorkshire, they road up to Masham, a market town in North Yorkshire.  By no means did they take the easiest route, and they still prevailed.

Wayne and the team here at Packetts are incredibly grateful for the donations, attendees and support given by the community for this fundraising event. We are glad to see the work for our less fortunate youth that One In A Million do. We hope that our small part in supporting what they do, helps change a young person’s life.
